WEARABLE
COMPUTERS WITH WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY

The development of affordable, portable, high powered digital
computing devices, coupled with ever more capable, wide-band wireless
communications systems, is providing the means to deliver voice, video
and data, to the site of work, wherever or whatever that work may be.
Wearable computer systems can be used to reduce infrastructure burden
through virtualization. The wholesale replacement of dimensional high
volume objects such as communications equipment, navigation devices
and support equipment is easily achieved and has been clearly
supported and demonstrated in the commercial marketplace by Ford,
Chrysler and National Instruments. These systems have great potential
to help in Homeland Security.
General Dynamics has been an active participant in this revolution
since 1995 when it introduced its first wearable computer systems.
Current systems represent a huge improvement over those early systems.
The speaker will describe the capabilities of these systems and
provide hands-on demonstrations. This presentation was successfully

William Quintana is the General Dynamics subject matter expert for
U.S. Navy shipboard mobile/wearable computing systems and for
Augmented Reality Damage Control Systems. He is currently employed at
Bath Iron Works in the development and implementation of cutting edge
technologies.
