Anatoliy Sachenko is Professor and Director of the Institute of Computer Information Technologies, of the Ternopil Academy of National Economy. He is also Head of the Department of Information Computing Systems and Control, and Chief of the Research Laboratory of Automation Systems and Networks at this institution. At present he is Visiting Fulbright Professor at the University of Maine, Department of Computer Science for the 2002/03 academic year. He earned his B.Eng. Degree in Electrical Engineering at L'viv Polytechnic Institute in 1968 and his PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering at L'viv Physics and Mechanics Institute in 1978 and his Doctor of Technical Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering at Leningrad Electrotechnic Institute in1988. In 1991 he became an Honored Inventor of Ukraine. In 1993 he became an IEEE Senior Member and the advisor to the IEEE Student Branch at the Ternopil Academy of National Economy. His main areas of research interest are neural networks, decision support systems, distributed systems, networks, parallel computing, intelligent controllers, and robotic systems . He has published over 300 Papers, and has 49 patents. He has chaired many sessions at numerous international conferences. He has supervised 9 PhD theses. He served as a leader of Project INTAS-OPEN-97-0606, Development of an Intelligent Sensing Instrumentation Structure (1998-2001). He is currently a co-investigator in the NATO Project in Robotics with the University of La Coruna, Spain. Some selected papers:
